Lance Corporal James Davison

James Davison was born on 10 October 1883 at Ardress, Loughgall, County Armagh, the first of eight children of farmer William Henry Davison and his wife Lucinda Maria (née Hall). At the time of the 1911 Census he was probably the James Davison living at Corgary Glen, County Down, where he worked as a land steward, his parents and five of his siblings still living at Ardress.

Davison enlisted in the North Irish Horse (or its predecessor the North of Ireland Imperial Yeomanry), at some point between 1903 and 1914. By the outbreak of war in August 1914, however, it appears that he was no longer with the regiment.

No record has been discovered to date of his service during the war.

On 5 June 1924 Davison married Elizabeth Gertrude Marshall in the Loughgall Presbyterian Church.

At least two of Davison's brothers also served in the war – Thomas Hall Davison in the Royal Irish Rifles, and William Henry Davison in the Royal Air Force. Davison's sister, Alice Victoria, married North Irish Horseman William Frederick Jackson in 1917.
